Army adds Medical Materiel to European Prepositioned Stocks

Soldiers from the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command complete an inventory of medical equipment and supplies being stocked at Army Prepositioned Stock 2 (APS-2) Nov. 20, in support of European theater readiness. APS-2 includes more than 280 medical sets to support a wide range of operational medicine capabilities, from forward resuscitative surgical teams to field hospitals

Private First Class Herbert Street enlisted in the U.S. Army. His service took him to England where he felt "electricity in the air" as he saw ships and airplanes en route to D-Day. He then made it to Belgium where he was stationed at Zutendaal Air Base.

BASOPS Maintenance looks back on 20 years of a successful apprenticeship program

Robin Siller, mechatronic apprentice BASOPS Maintenance Division in his third year , performs repairs on a  garrison scraper at the Maintenance Activity Vilseck building, Vilseck Oct. 29. After three and a half years of training in the division’s automotive section apprentices have to pass two exams to become a certified mechanic, with the option to earn further certifications as a Service Technician, Meister, or Techniker. Since 1998, BASOPS Maintenance, a directorate of the 405th AFSB, certifies and trains youth in a variety of directorate related fields, ranging from electronics repairman to contracting officer representative, supply specialist to administrative assistance

Dining facilities in Germany and Italy accept Credit/debit card payment

Pvt. Daniel Wilson, 212th Combat Support Hospital, accepts payment from Cpt. Timothy Brocks, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, at the Defender Café, dining facility on Rhine Ordnance Barracks, Kaiserslautern Germany. The Defender Café is one of 14 dining facilities in Europe, recently adding credit and debit card payment as option to their program. The U.S. Army is the first service branch to implement card services at dining facilities and dining facilities in Europe piloted the program.
