Army Field Support Battalion-Africa is one of the four battalions of the 405th Army Field Support Brigade and is headquartered at Leghorn Army Depot in Livorno, Italy, a strategic power projection platform.
AFSBn-Africa provides and coordinates the receipt, transfer, storage, and maintenance of Army Prepositioned Stocks and Operational Project Stocks in the European theater to enable commanders with immediate access to combat-ready equipment in support of U.S. Army Europe and Africa requirements. The APS stored in Europe are designated APS-2.
The site provides nearly 750,000 square feet of controlled humidity warehouse space and 1.5M square feet of outside storage for materiel for several combatant commands. The stock sites are aligned with U.S. deterrence posture and increase the readiness and responsiveness of U.S. forces in Europe, support the collective defense and security of NATO allies, and bolster the security and capacity of U.S. allies and partners.
The battalion provides and coordinates U.S. Army Material Command enablers in support of U.S. Army Southern European Task Force- Africa/SETAF through its assigned Logistic Support Team - Africa, located at Camp Ederle in Vicenza, Italy.
