A Logistics Assistance Representative with U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command assigned to the 405th AFSB in Europe, was recognized by the brigade commander and command sergeant major, Col. Brad Bane and Command Sgt. Maj. Kofie Primus, at Powidz Air Base, Poland, April 29.

Jim Scism, a helicopter AC/DC electrical specialist, is in Poland supporting the 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. He has served as a LAR for 12 years, the last five in Germany with the 405th AFSB. He also served in places like Kosovo and Egypt as a contractor, and he is a retired Army sergeant first class avionics technician.

Logistics Assistance Representatives are Army civilians serving in motor pools, hangars, maintenance shops, and offices around the world. Highly trained, they bring more than two dozen specialty skills to Army equipment readiness requirements. They are all part of the U.S. Army Sustainment Command’s global network of Army Field Support Brigades and are linked to every echelon of the Army in the field. The 405th AFSB has several LARs with multiple specialties assigned across Europe to include Poland.
