405th AFSB BASOPS Maintenance employee receives special recognition from local officials

Volker Frey, a heavy mobile equipment repair mechanic and customer service team supervisor for Base Support Operations Maintenance, works on a U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz fire truck at his maintenance facility on Panzer Kaserne in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Frey recently was awarded a Silver Master’s Certificate in recognition for his 25 years as a master mechanic and craftsman.

New policy restricting PCS shipment, storage of some lithium batteries takes effect on May 15

Lithium battery labels demonstrate the potential hazards the batteries present. Although the Defense Personal Property Management Office recognizes this new policy on the shipment of lithium batteries may cause an inconvenience to Soldiers and Families, DPPMO is committed to abiding by local and international laws regarding the movement of hazardous cargo. Polish Army officer responsible for primary workforce at new APS-2 site in Powidz

Polish Army Lt. Col. Przemel Musiej is responsible for overseeing the Polish military workforce at the new Army Prepositioned Stocks-2 worksite in Powidz, Poland, also known as a Long Term Equipment Storage and Maintenance Complex. Musiej said the APS-2 worksite is very important to Poland and demonstrates the strong partnership Poland has with the U.S. and NATO.

The commander of the 405th Army Field Support Brigade, Col. Crystal Hills, provides a group of distinguished visitors at the Long Term Equipment Storage and Maintenance Complex with a tour of the facility following the LTESM-C’s official opening ceremony in Powidz, Poland, April 5. The LTESM-C is comprised of 650,000 square feet of humidity-controlled warehouse space, a vehicle maintenance facility and supporting facilities, and a 58,000 square foot munitions storage area.
