405th Army Field Support Brigade Command Sergeant Major

Command Sergeant Major James R. Holmes III

Command Sgt. Maj. James R. Holmes III, native of Augusta, GA., assumed responsibility of the 405th Army Field Support Brigade on June 19, 2018. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1995 and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, SC and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, OK.

 

His assignments include the 3/319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 307th Forward Support Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division and Special Operations Sustainment Brigade (Airborne) (USASOC) Fort Bragg, NC; Atlanta Recruiting Battalion USAREC), Atlanta, GA; 235th Signal Company, 558th Transportation Company and Special Troops Battalion, 7th Sustainment Brigade Fort Eustis, VA; 4th Sustainment Brigade, 1st Calvary Division Sustainment Brigade Fort Hood, TX; 266TH Quartermaster Battalion, 23RD Quartermaster Brigade Fort Lee, VA; 1/77th Armor Battalion Schweinfurt, Germany; Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion U.S. Army Pacific Fort Shafter, HI. He has deployed to Kosovo to Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and to Afghanistan in support of Operation New Dawn, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. His military education includes the Basic Leader Course; the Basic Airborne Course, the Warrior Leaders Course, the Senior Leaders Course, and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration and a Master’s in Business Administration.

 

His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd award), Meritorious Service Medal (4th award), Joint Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (4th award), Army Achievement Medal (6th award), Army Good Conduct Medal (7th award), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon Kosovo NATO Medal, ISAF NATO Medal, Army Superior Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Award, the Airborne Badge, Driver’s Badge, Army Recruiter Badge and Thailand Jump Wings. He earned the prestigious Recruiter Ring, is a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club and Sergeant Morales Club.

 

Command Sgt. Maj. Holmes is married and has three kids.
