Command Sergeant Major Stanley O. Richards was born in Phenix City, Alabama on 19 April, 1961. He enlisted into the Alabama National Guard in 1988 and then joined the Active Army in 1989 as a Unit Supply Specialist (92Y). CSM Richards has held all enlisted leadership positions from Squad Leader to Command Sergeant Major.

CSM Richards has a Bachelors of Science Degree in General Business Management from the University of Alabama and a Masters Degree in Logistics from Touro University International.
