LTC Crystal Margie Hills | Commander, 405th AFSBn-Italy

Lieutenant Colonel Crystal M. Hills is a proud 1998 graduate of South Carolina State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude in English. She was commissioned as a Second lieutenant, Quartermaster Corps as a Distinguished Military Graduate. LTC Hills served her first assignment at Fort Bragg, North Carolina where she held the following positions: Executive Officer, Automotive Platoon Leader, and Technical Supply Platoon Leader in the 503d Maintenance Company, 1st Corps Support Command.

She then served as Supply Officer and Operations Officer for the 264th Corps Support Battalion. In 2003, LTC Hills moved to Camp Humphreys, Korea she served as the Supply and Services and Wartime Host Nation Officer In Charge for the 23rd Area Support Group. She then served as Commander, 348th Quartermaster Company, and 194th Maintenance Battalion. While serving in this position, LTC Hills earned the prestigious General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award and was inducted into the Association of the Quartermasters' Honorable Order of Saint Martin.

In 2006, LTC Hills matriculated at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia where she eventually earned a Master of Arts in English, with honors. She then served as an instructor in the Department of English & Philosophy for the United States Military Academy, West Point from 2008-2011. LTC Hills next served as the Brigade S-4 to the 45th Sustainment Brigade (SB), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, and then as the as Executive Officer, Special Troops Battalion, 45th SB. During this tour she deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan. Upon redeployment, LTC Hills was assigned to U.S. Army, Pacific (Ft. Shafter) where she served as the sole speechwriter for the Commanding General and four Deputy Commanding Generals. Most recently (2014), LTC Hills served at the Pentagon as the Logistics, Special Assistant to the Director of Army Staff commonly known as a "Dwarf". While there, she was selected to serve as a member of the Army Transition Team which facilitated the transition of the 39th Chief of Staff of the Army.

LTC Hills' professional development training includes Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, Airborne School, Equal Opportunity Representative Course, Combined Logistics Captains Career Course, the Combined Arms Service Staff School, Aerial Delivery and Materiel Officers Course, Operational Contracting, Command and General Staff College, and the LOGTECH Advanced Course. Her awards and decorations include the Army Meritorious Service Medal (two Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Commendation Medal (two Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (three Oak Leaf Clusters), the Parachutist's Badge, and the Parachute Rigger Badge. She has also earned a Greenbelt with Lean Sigma Six and Demonstrated Senior Logistician designation.

LTC Hills is the daughter of Ms. Helen Hills and Mr. Elridge Hills, a former Captain in the United States Air Force. They both reside in South Carolina.
