LTC Charles McPhail | Commander, 405th AFSBn-Germany

Lieutenant Colonel Charles W. McPhail was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps in June 1996 following graduation from Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, GA. Following completion of the Ordnance Ammunition Basic Course, he was assigned to 16thCorps Support Group in Hanau, Germany. While assigned in Germany he deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovinian in support of Operation Joint Endeavor and to Macedonia in support of Operation Joint Guard.After completing the Infantry Officer Captains Career Course in 2001, he wasassigned to 3rdBrigade, 1st Cavalry Division in Fort Hood Texas. He served as the Materiel Officer in the 215thForward Support Battalion Support Operations before taking command of B Co, 215thFSB. In 2004, he deployed with his company to Baghdad, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II.

In 2005, LTC McPhail was assigned to the Army Logistics University as an instructor at the Combined Logistics Career course. In 2007, he commanded a Military Transition Team in Kabul, Afghanistan. In 2009, upon return from his deployment, he was assigned to the 3rdArmored Cavalry Regiment in Fort Hood, Texas. While assigned to the 3rdArmored Cavalry Regiment (ACR), he deployed to Kalsu, Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn. In the 3rdACR, he served as the Regimental G4, the Support Operations Officer and Regimental Support Squadron Executive Officer.

Following his deployment to Iraq with the 3d ACR, he was assigned to the III Corps G4 as the Corps Maintenance Officer Chief of Plans and Operations during their deployment to Kabul, Afghanistan in support Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2014, he was assigned to U.S. Army Africa in Vicenza, Italy as the Chief of Theater Security Cooperation,G4. While assigned to USARAF, LTC McPhail was selected to serve as the Executive Officer to the Commanding General, U.S. Army Africa.

LTC McPhail has a bachelor's degree from the University of New York - Regents. His awards and decorations include Bronze Star Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal; Joint and Army Commendation Medal; Joint and Army Achievement Medal; various campaign and service ribbons; the Army Combat Action Badge and the Air Assault Badge.
